Charge Controllers

Your Charge Controller is at it’s simplest, a voltage and/or current regulator whose main purpose is to keep your batteries safe from overcharging. A Charge Controller will regulate the voltage and current that comes in from the solar panels, typically an output from 16 to 20 volts, on the way to the battery. If there is not any regulation in between the panel and the battery, an opportunity for damage via overcharging is present. With your Charge Controller inline, it will be responsible for maintaining a healthier voltage range of around 14 to 14.5 volts that will safely and efficiently charge your battery fully.
